Snow

I love the snow. Tuesday night it came. What a joy making dinner and watching all 4 guys playing. Snowmen and snowballs. Growing up in Florida, I believed that any snow would be good for making Snowmen. That is not the case I've learned! This snow was perfect. Wet, heavy snow, good for packing.

Wednesday, the boys schooled fast. They were eager to play. We had fun building a snowman on the deck. Jordie, soon cold was inside. He sent out fruit to add to our 'Frosty.' The guys had been working on a snowfort. Ha! It was no match for me... the fight began. I was impressed with the guys' aims. I admit I got hit a few times.

I always miss Acacia terribly with the first snow. He loved to play in it. He would race madly after the snow and chase snowballs.....

In Between

I take my moments when I can. My little men are at Friday School enjoying art, character, choir, gym, and storytime. I enjoyed helping in Jordie's texture class and reading in his character class. The drive home was peaceful......... beautiful farms, colorful trees, leaves blowing across the road, rivers raging and others calm. Once home, my art began.... Lemon Merangue Pie.... Granny's recipe (I believe her mother's). There's nothing like the merangue. I love to work with merangue and see what design it forms each time. Of course, with no child to lick the bowl... I savoured the lemon filling and the bites of peel... yum. Soon the pie will come out. I'll walk down our road and then back to find my little men. What a blessed 'in between' moment.

a beautiful day

Today began after only 3 1/2 hours sleep. God's strength and energy carried me all day. I surprised the boys with school first thing. The look in their eyes almost convinced me to change my mind. (I usually give advanced notice). During the week they wake late with feet dragging. Amazingly, they are very early risers on Sats and Suns (even my sleeper, Johnny) and ready to conquer the world. School was not long... I'm curious to what Mon. morning will bring.

A beautiful fall day... a lovely family walk down our road with the boys scooting along. Tim with his walking stick and I juggling the camera, tumbler of creme brulee coffee, and flowers from my little men... vibrant colors... rosy apples. A busy morning... birds, geese, dragonflies mating... 'piggy back rides'. Jordie thrilled with the caterpillars and secures one in his scooter. He was very pleased to find a place safe from the wind. Joseph saddened - discovering his scooter ran over 'his caterpillar'... parallel. A nice jot to admire the Loretz' - such a romantic home. We ourselves are being watched. A fox ... as curious as we are. Further on a grass snake spots us. Dare I move close for a photo? His poise' was with such dignity. Happy I am when he moved on. Hay bales... fun for the boys. How blessed to live the country life. The boys race homeward.

Chris stops by with Seth, Dominick, Kaleb, and Aidan. Yummy! More nature and family... how perfect. The boys are thrilled! Into our woods we go. The kids have fun ... explore... discover a 'secret hideout'. Some are friends, some are foes (better yet, bandits!) I stop to watch them... swing from the grapevines... play in their 'hideout'... run through the woods... I believe I even heard that we were the enemies... ahhhh... memories. They would stop to help with the wood - kindling and also some pretty good size pieces. Nice workers our boys are... especially little Joe. Tim and Chris work hard clearing with the saws, while I do some clearing of my own. Watermelon from our garden comes out... the spitting contest begins. I do believe the grandkids are surprised by my spitting abilities.
